Start in Simpson Bay, which is the most convenient port in the Caribbean region. Less than 10 minutes from the airport, you will find yourself immersed in the yachting hub that is Simpson Bay. Even if you haven’t been here before, Simpson Bay will look familiar as the host port of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and many seasons of hit TV Show Below Deck.
Two countries — St. Maarten/Martin (Dutch side/French side)— one island that offers boundless options for whatever kind of cruising vacation you are looking for. Here are some of our favorite local anchorages, which provide access to the best restaurants, shopping, and beaches and would be perfect choices for your first night onboard:
-Simpson Bay (Dutch side): home of the St. Maarten Yacht Club and iconic beach bars
-Philipsburg (Dutch side): lively Boardwalk and cruise ship port by day, quiet by night
-Marigot (French side): capital of French side, straw market, hike to Fort Louis, our favorite bakery!
-Grand Case (French side): usually calm anchorage, snorkeling at Creole Rock, best restaurant strip on island — and the Caribbean!!

You can also journey to neighboring islands, such as St. Barths, Anguilla, the Virgin Islands, St. Kitts, Antigua… as far as St. Lucia or anywhere in between. Your performance bareboat charter week will begin with a complimentary half day training session with one of our Pro Skippers, so you will feel confident taking Hermes out on your own adventures!

Hermes is a Pogo 12.50, a performance cruiser designed for fast offshore and coastal sailing. The boat is 40 length overall, with a retractable bowsprit, and 15 foot beam built to surf ocean waves with ease. Set up the spinnaker and get cruising over 10+ knots, Hermes at speed is easy to manage short-handed or with a family for fast fun!
Designed with a lifting keel, the 9 foot draft reduces to 4 feet by the press of a button, allowing you to access shallow and remote anchorages. Pop up the sunshade, open up the transom, turn on the tunes… and now Hermes is in full cruising mode with an epic swim platform/dance floor/yoga studio at the stern!
